There are many home business opportunities on the internet. Some of these are real jobs and others are scams. How can you tell if a business opportunity is a scam or the real thing? Many people face this question. First research the company, research scam websites and blogs, and then if all else fails–use your instincts. If something looks to good to be true, it usually is.

You should never have to pay an employer to work for them–they should be paying you. If you receive an email to “work from home”, but have to visit a website that wants you to pay to download a list of work from home jobs, it is most likely a scam. Internet home business opportunities are real. You can do freelance work on sites such as Odesk and Elance. This is not to say that there are not scams on these sites. In some instances, “employers” on these sites do not pay the freelance providers for the work they have done, and vice versa–the employer pays the provider but the work is not as the employer had hoped.

Most companies need people with experience in computers, telemarketing, blog writing, customer service, and technical experience such as how to download programs. These companies offering work from home positions can use life experience when someone doesn’t have a degree in a certain field.

What are the Benefits of Working from Home?

There are several benefits when working from home. The first is telecommuting is free. The cost of fuel continues to rise but working from home with a computer is essentially free. You only pay for the internet access you already use. The freedom and flexibility of a work from home job is priceless. The hours you used to spend commuting to your job can now be spent with your family. These are just a few benefits of working from home.

Legitimate Work from Home Jobs

There are several steps put in place by Elance and Odesk to ensure both the employer and provider are satisfied. One of the ways these companies do this is by using time tracking software that takes a screen-shot of what the provider is working on. This ensures the Internet home business opportunities are safe for the provider and for the employer. It also ensures the provider will be paid for the work that is done and the time the employer is paying for is the actual time expended to complete the job.

There is other legitimate work from home jobs available. If you look on most websites, you will find a link for careers. When you click on this link, it will have a list of jobs available. Some of the jobs posted are for work from home positions.

CNN has a list of legitimate work from home jobs, such as Alpine. Alpine provides services for credit card companies, retail stores, video surveillance companies, and many more companies that are looking to hire people to work from home.
